LOCATED near the equator in Africa, Tenerife is one of the ideal places to visit in spring especially that all elementary, high school and college students here in Salamanca and the rest of the country are enjoying their vacation. To the kids who are not yet familiar to the place, Tenerife is very far away since it is located in Africa but it is a territory of Spain. So residents there are speaking Spanish and it is a popular getaway by Europeans especially the Spaniards. Thus, there are daily flights there available not just emanating from Madrid but in key cities in the country such as Barcelona and Valencia City. But Tenerife is just one of the islands that Spain owns off the coast of the Horn of Africa. There are other islands as well such as Las Palmas which is the capital of the archipelago called Gran Canaria, otherwise known by English-speaking travelers as Las Palmas Gran Canaria.

Sure enough, there are lots of English-speaking travelers here in Tenerife during spring. But it’s not just the English-speaking folks who are fascinated with Tenerife. You can have banana-based rum because it is available here too. Actually, bananas comprise one of the most prolific agricultural produce here along with olives so there are plenty of olives here too. Back home in England, if you are whining that olive oil costs that much at the local grocery, here in Tenerife, they are almost virtually giving it for free.
